ABSTRACT
Introdução: o diagnóstico e tratamento do câncer causam diferentes sentimentos nos indivíduos acometidos e seus familiares. Prevalece no consciente coletivo a noção do câncer como doença incurável, o que possibilita a busca por alternativas milagrosas que ofereçam esperança de cura. Neste sentido, surge a fosfoetanolamina sintética, substância química produzida em laboratório que copia a fosfoetanolamina produzida pelo corpo humano com função antitumoral. Apesar de não possuir registro para utilização pela população, a fosfoetanolamina sintética foi apontada como uma possível cura para o câncer e envolvida em estudos circundando seres humanos, o que tem provocado sérias discussões acerca do contorno bioético envolvendo pesquisas com seres humanos. Conclusão: apesar da importante função de controle das etapas que envolvem a produção, liberação, regulação e remoção de um medicamento pelos órgãos e entidades da Administração Pública, nota-se a imperícia, negligência e imprudência dos mesmos ao aprovarem documentos oficiais que possibilitaram a terapêutica com a fosfoetanolamina sintética, sem aparentemente conhecer a existência de fases que uma substância farmacológica deve passar até ser de livre acesso a população.
Introduction: the diagnosis and treatment of cancer cause different feelings in affected individuals and their families. The collective consciousness prevails the notion of cancer as an incurable disease, which makes it possible to search for miraculous alternatives that offer hope of healing. In this sense, synthetic phosphoethanolamine appears, a chemical substance produced in the laboratory that copies the phosphoethanolamine produced by the human body with antitumor function. Although synthetic phosphoethanolamine was not registered for use by the population, it was pointed out as a possible cure for cancer and involved in studies involving human beings, which has led to serious discussions about the bioethical contour involving human research. Conclusion: despite the important control function of the stages that involve the production, release, regulation and withdrawal of a drug by the organs and entities of the Public Administration, it is possible to note their negligence when approving official documents that enabled the therapeutics with synthetic phosphoethanolamine, without apparently knowing the existence of phases that a pharmacological substance must pass until it is of free access to the population.
